I fell in love with the Russian language by reading its early 20th century poetry, and so I deeply appreciate learning so much about Yeghishe Charents from this brilliant biography. "The revolution needs its poets." And poetry needs a revolution. https://t.co/BpQPyypdqy

Born in 1897 and executed in 1937, Charents' life spanned the decisive events of the 20th century’s first half. He was a revolutionist, a socialist and a master of the written form.

The reemergence of eugenics in American immigration policy The State Dept’s cable represents a modern revival of the 20th century eugenics doctrines that once shaped US immigration & public health policy & reached their most murderous form in Nazi Germany https://t.co/B4pU5bghx2

The directive empowers consular officers to deny visas over health conditions, marking a reactionary assault on immigrants, the sick and the working class.

ICE raids last week in Eugene, Oregon result in kidnapping of more than a dozen people During the assault, one of the masked agents mockingly waved and blew kisses at the crowd that had gathered in response to the attack. https://t.co/LJMXEHcVwd

The tactics and naked brutality of the kidnappings are a continuation of the Trump administration’s campaign of terror, which seeks to scapegoat immigrant workers around the country.

Stalinists will go to any lengths to distort the historical record and slander left opposition. “Ableism” is in reality, reflected in Stalinist orgs decision to disregard the ruling class’ policy of social murder in letting Covid rip thru the working class. 1/

The tedious talking point "The Soviet Union was a degenerate workers state" is a fundamentally ableist and eventually even euro-centric reactionary pseudo-critism of the actual struggles and achievements of soviet socialism.

Since official COVID surveillance data has dried up, we need to get creative and look at unconventional sources like search trends. While search trends aren't perfect as a data source, it correlated consistently with COVID waves when we had reliable testing. May also detect flu.

5- When combined and looking at the correlation between all of these and past waves, it looks like COVID is still quite active in the US in spite of what we are led to believe. https://t.co/Wg0eT0Rhqz

SARS-CoV-2 causes cumulative damage. Much of the population is unaware of that crucial fact. In many cases, this is because important information was omitted from their view. What evidence have you come across that broadly illustrates the cumulative damage in COVID?
