Eric Norton from our team is testifying. He read back an official response from the BRTB to a public comment. He pointed out that it was full of inaccurate assertions such as that widening highways is good for the environment. “It’s wrong and you all should know better.”

The presentation of the proposed spending program indicates that it includes more spending on transit than recent 4-year spending programs. This is in response to public comments asking for more investment in transit.

The proposed spending program allocates over $6 billion in taxpayer dollars to transportation projects in the Baltimore region over the next four years. Keep that in mind when a headline says we are “cash strapped”.

During general public comments a retired physician who said he biked here from Federal Hill said the plan is too car-centric. He asked the BRTB not to forget that some people get around without driving a car.

We’re attending the meeting of the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board because the state and local government reps will vote on the 4-year spending program. We’ve written to ask them to prioritize repairs, transit, biking and walking over several highway widening projects.

“With all the talk about how tight funding is, the budget we just passed is widening Interstate 81 and it’s widening U.S. 15. That’s a choice. We could choose to implement the MARC plan.” .- CMTA CEO Brian O'Malley in the @WashPost.

MTA dropped the word, but investment --or the lack of it-- is a choice made by the Governor and legislators every year when they update the budget. They added weekend service on the Penn Line in 2013. Let’s add improvements from this plan in the next @MarylandDOT budget. 2/2.

The @mtamaryland published the MARC Growth & Transformation Plan. Is this about the 4th update of this plan since 2007? It used to be called the MARC Growth and Investment Plan. 🎩 1/2.
