We set out to establish a new, transparent process. I’m very grateful to my colleagues + those who engaged in this new way of filling a vacancy. I hope this becomes the norm in the future: public, transparent, and based on shared values + the qualities of a successful lawmaker.

Today, we launched a new transparent and public process to fill the open seat on Council. Cincinnati deserves a leader who shares our values: a commitment to core services, to our children and families, especially those most marginalized, and a healthy culture at City Hall.

Yesterday, Council unanimously approved extra pay for our police recruits, an investment I’ve been fighting for. This will help boost recruitment and keep our neighborhoods safe.

This morning the administration and Mayor announced our carryover budget, which prioritizes public safety, housing, our pension, capital investments, neighborhood projects, our savings, and pedestrian safety. Presentations in B&F begin Monday.

The gun violence last night is terrible and we’re going to get it out of our city. I’m grateful that everyone is expected to survive. @CincyPD did a tremendous job. Now, they’ll do what they do best: problem solve with the community to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
