Our community has come out in force to make their voices heard and support the HOME Act, which will allow the nearly 40% of our county residents who rent by stabilizating rents at a reasonable rate of CPI or 3%, whichever is lower. 🏚

In our HHS/Education committee meeting, we are discussing strategies to end childhood hunger in Montgomery County. A key strategy is to provide free school meals (breakfast and lunch) as we did during the pandemic.

🛑 Black drivers accounted for 30% of the stops despite being 18% of the population. 🛑 Latinx drivers were 21% of the stops despite being 19% of the population. 🛑 White drivers were underrepresented in traffic stops based on their population. /4

Anyone who uses a public restroom expects to find the basic supplies needed to be healthy: clean running water, a functioning toilet, toilet paper, and soap. Menstrual supplies are likewise critical to public health.

MCPS informed me that a middle school student was injured while crossing the street last night near Seneca Valley High School. The student was struck by a high school student driver. The injured student remains in critical condition and the incident is under investigation.
