Today we had the @CIML_Immunology scientific retreat in Marseille. Plenty of talks from students, post-docs and researchers, highlighting collaborative projects. Closing up with two debates: - Brain vs Gut: who is driving who? - Innate vs Adaptive: who is the best for memory?

The team of Pierre Milpied has just released a new method that links single-cell RNA sequencing with monoclonal antibody production: FB5P-seq-mAbs. This innovation provides a robust and cost-effective way to study B cell responses and rare populations.

Last week we had the great honor to welcome Dr. Cecilia Johanssen from Imperial College London in our CIML seminar series. Cecilia gave a brilliant seminar on "Type I interferons in respiratory viral infections and in lung cancer" and had lots of exchange with CIML scientists.

We are proud to announce that two of our distinguished immunologists, Bernard Malissen and Eric Vivier, have been recognized as Highly Cited Researchers by @Clarivate , with research publications ranking in the top 1% of citations in their field over the past decade.

Last week we had the honor to welcome Dr. Renato Ostuni @OstuniLab from San Raffaele Hospital @MyUniSR in our CIML seminar series. Renato gave a fascinating seminar on "Molecular and spatial control of tumor-associated macrophages" and had great exchange with our scientists.

🩺 Therapeutic Potential: Current IBD treatments often fail to achieve full remission. Targeting the IFN-λ/ZBP1/CASP-8/GSDMC axis may enhance mucosal healing, offering better outcomes for IBD and radiotherapy patients.

🔬 Using both mouse and patient-derived intestinal organoids, the team demonstrated that IFN-λ-induced ZBP1 senses Z-nucleic acids (Z-NAs) in stressed epithelial cells, triggering cell death.

🧪 Researchers found that IFN-λ upregulates ZBP1 in intestinal epithelial cells, leading to Caspase-8/Gasdermin C-dependent pyroptosis. This process destroys epithelial stem cells, hindering regeneration and prolonging inflammation in mouse models of colitis.

💡 The study shows that IFN-λ, while inhibiting viral replication, actually damages gut epithelial tissue by blocking repair processes, contributing to IBD pathology. #TypeIIIInterferons
