4 Pillars of Periop Opioid Reduction: (1) patient/provider education, (2) limit peak inpatient and total exposure with routine non-opioid bundle, (3) purposeful opioid weaning to zero/near-zero by last 24hrs, (4) patient-centered “5x-multiplier” discharge Rx.@MDAndersonNews.
In this study, median total inpatient oral morphine equivalent (OME) was halved & median discharge OME reduced to zero in association w a learning health system model of iterative opioid reduction, freely adaptable by other hospitals. @MDAndersonNews.
