The CDCI collaborates with people with disabilities so communities include everyone. Inclusion is love, but accessibility is mandatory.

readers, how would you feel about a book with a disabled protagonist due to long covid? the book is not at all about covid, it's just the character's disability I got told it's "too soon" or "too close to home" but I can't possibly be the only audience for this right?

Happy Birthday to Braille, and kudos to Dave for doing such an amazing job with this meme.
POV: Braille is turning 200 years old and we let the Gen Z team member write the video script. Our bestie Dave is here to tell you all about its history and importance. He ate and left no crumbs. @dwilliamsuk

Language access is #accessibility.
Thanks to our friends at @HHSOCR for creating language access know-your-rights flyers to help people who don’t speak or read English get the care they need. In addition to this English version, flyers are available in 15+ languages. #ProtectFamilies

In related news, congratulations to the winning team of our staff retreat trivia contest, Pub Peeps! Trivia contests are a great way to get staff fired up about learning facts on accessibility, disability history, and where to find things in our department.

Again, obviously you should care about disabled people regardless of whether it ~benefits~ you or not, but prioritizing accessible/universal design objectively in everybody’s best interest

People pushing strollers, people carrying a lot of stuff, people trying to talk on their phones and walk at the same time, people in dodgy shoes. Literally all of us.
Also, anything that benefits disabled people will likely benefit you too. It was disabled people who did the work to make curb cuts in our sidewalks mandatory & you know who else benefits from them? Literally all of us

We love seeing Dr. Komabu-Pomeyie bring her message of global #DisabilityInclusion to a larger audience. Thank you, @UVM_Libraries, for making this possible.
On a Friday afternoon in August, UVM Lecturer Sefakor Komabu-Pomeyie commanded a crowd in Howe Library to hear her read from her memoir, "I'm Able: A Woman's Advice for Disability Change Agents." Read more at the link in our bio. #UVMBookTalk #UVMLibraries #Disability
