I want to thank Enterprise Mayor Mike St. Amour and Hay River Mayor Kandis Jameson for their candor when reflecting on how this summer’s emergencies have affected their communities and what can be done to support residents going forward.

Today I visited Hay River and Enterprise with @JustinTrudeau and @MMcLeodNWT. It was my priority to show the Prime Minister the catastrophic effects of this year’s wildfire season while he was in the territory, and we spent time in both Hay River and Enterprise to do so.

The UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Implementation Act has received assent, a critical milestone in advancing reconciliation in the NWT. My heartfelt thanks to the Council of Leaders and to the officials who worked to advance this Act.
