Dr. Raphael Valdivia from Duke kicked off the 60th #SAIB Congress with an excellent plenary talk on Akkermansia microphila - the emerging probiotic in the GI tract that modulates diet-induced obesity. Genes required for growth in mucin proteoglycans were identified!
