When I was Director of @IDHW, we ended the practice of our state agency diverting earned survivor benefits from foster youth. This week, @josh_idaho introduced legislation to codify this policy. Rep. Tanner, you’re right. This is not a budget issue. This is a moral issue.

Kids should have a right to counsel.
I went to immigration court in Seattle to observe the kids docket. These children, some as young as three years old, are expected to understand complex legal processes and represent themselves in court. That’s not due process.
