My office will continue to monitor how this decision is applied and pursue efforts to safeguard the civil rights of all Californians.

I am shocked, saddened & alarmed that the Supreme Court now says that you can be detained simply because of your race, your occupation, or the language you speak. I am hopeful that local law enforcement will not use this as a license to harass or detain our friends and neighbors.

Twenty outstanding high schoolers from SD34 joined us in Sacramento for the culmination of their Young Senators program. After developing mock bills throughout the year, they experienced the legislative process firsthand during their visit. Always a highlight of the year!
