For those of you who do not know, Angola is a slave plantation, no literally. 1834 the property had been acquired by Francis Routh for the production of cotton. In the late 1830s the property passed to Isaac Franklin, a wealthy planter and slave trader from Tennessee.
BREAKING: Kids incarcerated at Louisiana's Angola prison say they were locked in windowless cells with no air-conditioning for nearly 24 hours a day this month, as heat indexes in the area topped 133 degrees. @elizabethweill has the story.

@equalityAlec Minneapolis Police Sgt Stephen McBride was paid nearly $376,000 last year, more than 3 times his regular salary of $110,240. And no one can explain what he did or how he could have actually put in all those hours. Not 1 explanation, and local residents want to give MPD even more.

The whole system is literally guilty as hell.

For those of you comfortable in the electoral process, who lament that young people are silly and don’t recognize a good economy when they see one etc - you really don’t understand the courage and thoughtfulness it takes to do what this young person is doing in this video.
Mood outside DNC 2 hrs ago after police attacked protesters. When you just can’t pick which caption . #FreePalestine #AlShifaHospital .Stop #GazaGenocide @factsandfire

Duffy: "This whole movement is potentially gonna make people go, 'I'm gonna come to work earlier. I'm gonna stay later. I'm gonna look at what Donald Trump wants me to accomplish because he won the election, and I'm gonna fight and work to make sure I help him accomplish that .

If you are a reasoned thinking person, if you are not a child with childish wishful thinking, if you are an adult you do not think this type of police lying only happens in these high profile incidents - police lie as a normal accepted practice.
Mother of Tyre Nichols says police told her he was stopped for DUI and had to be peppered sprayed. BUT they told the department it was reckless driving. “I think they (police) were trying to cover it up” Nichols mom told @donlemon . Police “beat him to a pulp” she said.

Teamsters have a 60% white demographic. The union endorsed Biden and not Harris with a continuation of the same Biden policies. This is curious. Folks wonder why we don't have worker and class solidarity in this country. To me it is fairly obvious.
BREAKING: The Teamsters union declined to endorse Kamala Harris or Donald Trump, saying neither candidate had sufficient support from the 1.3 million-member union.

@atrupar Interestingly enough, your comment is what abusers do to their spouses, putting that fear in them how much worse off they could be with somebody else or without somebody to take care of them.

This is actually how u are supposed to address the chief of police, because they hold the responsibility of deadly force in their hands, you are elected to challenge them when they gaslight and stonewall. It is the literal definition of truth to power. Good on you @jeremiah4north

You all are just now getting a glimpse of these absurd judges - now imagine if you have to run the gauntlet from police, to prosecutor, to judge, to jury all with the same frame of mind and belief in whiteness as de facto innocence and righteousness.
At the Kyle Rittenhouse trial this morning, the judge asked, given that it's Veterans Day, if there were any veterans in the room. The only one appeared to be Rittenhouse's next witness, a use of force expert. So the judge asked everyone in the court to applaud for veterans.

I said this before and I will say it again, @hclib has some of the best staff, they handle just as much of our social issues as police, and do so with care and humanity, without the brutal. We should invest in librarians to the extent we throw money into the police maw.

@ava From the responses, one would think you insulted somebody's moms, and not just a benign comment about your own personal deliberation about politicians.
