What does this mean in broader context? We discuss the possibility that functionally diverse SCAR/WAVE subcomplexes could exist which would overall allow greater diversity in actin regulation across various cellular contexts. 🧵 8/9

Discussion: Generally, IDRs are also known to act as interaction surfaces. They may contribute to SCAR functionality by fine-tuning protein stability through differential interactions with other proteins. 🧵7/9

Interestingly, one of this short amino acid sequences decreases protein abundance across different proteins, species and tissue contexts. Example: its fusion to mCitrine leads to a significant decrease of mCitrine protein but not transcript levels in N. benthamiana leaves. 🧵6/9
