The archives for the old Curbed city sites have been offline for at least two weeks. If these sites are gone for good, it’s not just a loss for those who contributed over the years, but a loss of ~15 years of reporting on new development, neighborhoods & architecture criticism.

A great SoCal memorial: The "Childhood Home of the Beachboys" at 3701 W. 119th St. in Hawthorne, just off the 105 Freeway (whose construction led to the house's demo in the '80s). It includes relief statuary of Brian Wilson & Co. "surfing." Sure to be a shrine in the coming days.

Before the Palisades fire, LA County failed to make “highest priority” fixes to water mains, tanks & other key infrastructure in areas that burned, records show. Some aimed to boost “fire flow.” Experts say homes could’ve been saved. My latest for @latimes https://t.co/snlb2TgTxC
