If anyone had a right to question whether our democracy was worth redeeming, it was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Because in the face of billy clubs and lynchings, poll taxes and literacy tests, he never gave in to violence, never waved a traitorous flag or gave up on our country.

The UK becomes first country in the world to approve Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine; they plan to begin distributing it next week. This milestone is a culmination of the dedication of the patient volunteers, scientists, regulators, many others. (Disclosure: I serve on Pfizer BoD)
UPDATE: The @MHRAgovuk issued a temporary authorization for emergency use of our #COVID19 vaccine with @BioNTech_Group in the United Kingdom. This marks the first authorization of a vaccine to help fight the pandemic following a worldwide trial.

An important development for the progress of advanced diagnostics that can help us detect cancer much earlier, to enable more patients to seek effective therapy when cancers can be successfully addressed; from the team at @GrailBio and @illumina (where I serve on the BoD).
Congratulations to @NHSEngland for pioneering cancer testing with Galleri, a DNA sequencing blood test that may spot signs of cancer at the earliest stage of disease before symptoms show.

Great day for patients. We may have two highly effective vaccines for Covid if results from the interim Pfizer and Moderna trials are confirmed by the full data sets. The acute phase of the U.S. pandemic will end in 2021. We must work together to get through the next 3 months
Moderna’s vaccine proved 94.5% effective in preventing Covid-19 with symptoms in an early look at pivotal trial results, the latest strong performance by an experimental shot, @Loftus reports

Good policy work here, will provide flexibility for the delivery of the Covid antibodies in alternate sites of care; including potentially for home infusion. This can expand access — especially to underserved communities. @LillyPad @Regeneron @CMSGov @SeemaCMS

The scope of clinical trials underway for a Covid vaccine is unprecedented. Never before have so many massive trials been undertaken simultaneously in pursuit of a single goal. The oversight of safety boards is evidence of the integrity, rigor, and careful nature of this process.
