Just published at @NewPhyt : my first paper in co-authorship with @Viraj101 and @RoutierLab. In this meta-analysis of model plant Arabidopsis thaliana growth data, we try to create some benchmarks of what is the normal growth for different organs. https://t.co/U0KQ2ht63w

Plant development depends on coordinated growth at cellular and organ scales, yet comparative analyses are hindered by inconsistent reporting of growth across studies. We conducted a meta-analysis...

Since we're talking about funding of absurd research by NIH and other federal agencies, the funded scientists: - watching flies fuck - giving rats massages - spending years digging into why jellyfish glow - tracking penguin poop from space - using horseshoe crab blood

In 2014, the centre-right New Zealand government announced millions in funding to develop bike lanes. Why would a right-leaning government support bike lanes while Doug Ford promises to rip them up in Ontario? The answer lies in proportional representation. đ§”1/6
Bike lanes belong on secondary streets, not clogging traffic on main roads. Itâs time to get you moving again.

"The decision means persons already in the programs will not be able to make requests for selection certificates." The disrespect and contempt to the lives of thousands of people, this government is a disgrace.

If the NDP were smart about their position they would leverage it into having Trudeau & the LPC introduce meaningful electoral reform. Particularly #ProportionalRepresentation. Every vote matters. Every citizen is represented by their vote. #Cdnpoli

Cars and urban sprawl cause traffic. Bike lanes and public transport reduce traffic. It's not that difficult, but being conservative today is to let go of all evidence based understanding of life in society to play with bad populism and anger.
cbc.ca
While many people, including Ontario's Premier Doug Ford, say that bike lanes increase traffic congestion, research from around the world shows that's not the case.

First-past-the-post is a terrible electoral system and we will all be much better off once we switch to proportional representation at all levels of government.
