Our Junior Naturalists in Cohort #1 also went hunting for fungi today. They learned all about the fungal life cycle, closely examined pores and spores. Used teamwork to roll some huge logs. And had a special visit with a deer at the end of their meeting 🦌🍄🟫

Our Junior Naturalist club (Cohort#2) had a beautiful day looking for living things on logs at The Riverwood Conservancy. It was fun-gi! 🍄🟫. We found so many types of mushrooms, lichen, moss, galls and more!

Are you a carnivore, omnivore or herbivore? Cohort #1 discovered that they have some incredible instincts for survival today. We visited Mountsberg Conservation Area for a trip into their Spooky Forest and hoped we wouldn’t get eaten or taken out by humans or natural disasters.

If you like fall colours, then this Mini Nat meeting was the one for you. We met new trees as we played leaf bingo, made a leaf kebob collection and looked for living things in, on and under trees and logs. 🍁🍂🌲🌳

Cohort #2 were treated to a tour of the forests, fields and aquatic habitats of the Mountsberg Conservation Area today. They found a variety of living things, learned about their adaptations and went on a scavenger hunt.

Cohort #1 spent the morning contributing to the scientific community. With the help of iNaturalist, participants searched high and low in the very own BioBlitz on the @uoftmississauga campus. Highlights included: coyote den, salmon, salamanders, insects, fungi and more!

Cohort #1 had some incredible nature finds today during their first meeting of the Fall 2025 season. Frogs, a newt, tadpoles, cicadas and a Brown Snake. They also managed to tag 42 Monarch Butterflies before they head to Mexico.
