It didn't. All of PAGAN Europe celebrated this, although in slightly different ways (like Europeans ALWAYS do.....#IndividualismIntensifies). The Norse name for Halloween is Alfablót ("Sacrifice to the Elves"). The name Halloween is just the English name for this festival.
I often forget that seemingly nobody in the US is aware that Halloween, Samhain, originated in Ireland. There are parades all around the country, bonfires, and fireworks all month building up to the main events. I would highly recommend visiting Ireland for Halloween tbh.

And to all the people who are "disappointed" now: I got the same reactions when I started Burzum, back in 1991. "Oh, are you playing simple riffs"; "Are you using a synth?"; "It doesn't sound like Death Metal", etc. This is the reason why guys like ME do well... sorry.
