I don't get rattled easily but this makes me feel sick. The National Weather Service said 1/2 the city of Lake Charles floods when the river reaches 13 feet. The forecast surge up the river is expected to crest at 15.6 feet!

People stuck for 12 hrs in 20 degree temperatures is unacceptable. Forecast was as accurate as it gets 12 hrs before it started. If I-95 in Virginia doesn’t have the plow/salt capabilities for 8-14” of snow it should have been preemptively closed.

I usually don’t post family stuff but this deserves it. Yesterday my aunt donated a kidney to Caroline so she could LIVE! 6 months ago they were complete strangers now forever connected. Aunt Suzi I’m in awe of this sacrifice and unselfish act. Both are doing well in recovery.

We have worked to obtain backup power for some of these stations & we will mobilize those units when it is safe to traverse the city. In order to prevent sewage backups, we have asked residents to limit water usage at home, thus decreasing the amount of wastewater we must remove.

Why is it so cold? A huge dip in jetstream has dragged down all the cold air in the Arctic to the Eastern half of the U.S. The cold air is displaced. Typically, it sits over Siberia, Western Europe and Alaska but look how unusually warmer then normal those location are now.
