Transit riders btwn South Beach & Miami stand in packed buses for upwards of an hour to cross Biscayne Bay. That's if their lucky enough to even get on. A few wealthy elite are trying to stop the train. Learn more in today's Miami Herald via @doug_hanks. https://t.co/STkLBIoX7b

The first Baylink transit study was finished in the 1980s on how to connect Miami with the beach. The fight continues.

Every wheelchair user’s safety is threatened by bollards along Lincoln Road at Alton Road in Miami Beach. The car in the photo is a lane over. It’s impossible to see what’s coming north on the closest lane. https://t.co/kp3QbkWKP7

Super important to understand why most people would welcome Parisian-style apartment housing (left) but not “five over one” apartment (right) to their neighborhood —yes, one reason is that the Parisian building is easy on the eyes while the American apartment building is painful
another social housing project in Paris that looks better than 99% of market-rate housing in anglosphere

Cringe. You fixed a parking lot. The most basic low tier maintenance. It’s like celebrating unclogging a toilet. Our airport is still falling apart. This is everything wrong with our broken ego-driven performative politics. Miami-Dade leaders are unserious people. #BecauseMiami
Today we welcomed Ibis Garage to Miami International Airport! 2000 new parking spaces right in time for the holidays - ahead of schedule and under budget! Thank you Lemartec, MIA Director, Mayor and all involved in this critical infrastructure project. We are on our way at MIA!

E-Bikes are legal on most FL paths-except Miami Beach's 7-mile "beachwalk" Tomorrow, a vote could let parents w/kids ride up to 10 mph. In one of America's deadliest states for cyclists & peds, parents must risk traffic even when a safer path exists. Good idea?

We have an aggressive goal to plant 10,000 Trees in 3 years, and we've already planted nearly 8,000 trees in the first 18 months. One of the fun ways we are doing this is giving away free trees to residents to plant in their yards: visit https://t.co/10pujjAvCj to sign up.

Miami Beach has pursued a plan in recent years to add shade trees and deprioritize palms. But the city's elected officials are pushing back on that approach, troubling environmental advocates and city staff. w/@harrisalexc

The Miami Beach City Commission gave initial approval to the proposal, despite the city’s resiliency office advising against it.

So 75% of fire truck trips could be replaced by smaller ambulances. We should loosen the grip fire departments have on the design of our streets.
3.7% of fire calls are for fires. 75% are medical aid. Pedestrian deaths outnumber fire almost 2:1. That’s before adding auto deaths that also are reduced from safer, calmer streets. If we intend to be focused on public safety we need to stop pretending speed is the sole metric

14,046 people rode the free water taxi during Art Week. It was only available from last Wednesday - Sunday I rode on the first day and reported 13 passengers on my trip to Miami and 8 on return to Miami Beach. Somebody told me they waited for about an hour over the weekend,

🏡 🧵The recent flooding from Hurricane Helene/Milton has devastated semi-affordable homes in St. Pete’s Shore Acres & Pinellas coastal communities. The FEMA 50% rule now threatens over 10K homes, forcing many homeowners to sell. Lines for permits are long—and filled with tears.
