Read the whole story here, which includes quotes from Guthrie about how the state is considering evacuation options for detainees, which the new redacted report contains no additional non-redacted details on:.

For those that didn’t read my story, here’s the direct quote from @FLSERT spokesperson for @KevinGuthrieFL when I asked for the state hurricane plan. Today, the day after my story published, Florida released a heavily redacted draft version of a disaster plan.
🚨 WRONG AGAIN! The Miami Herald reports FAKE NEWS that @GovRonDeSantis, @KevinGuthrieFL and @FLSERT have no "formal hurricane plan" for Alligator Alcatraz. Here it is. "South Florida Detention Facility Continuity of Operations Plan". "This plan provides a summary of necessary

Incredible, crushing, heart-wrenching writing from @FreshParsley. Every tragedy is so much more intense than any of us could ever know, unless we lived through it.

This March memo suggests stopping all new enrollments in the NFIP. That would grind the real estate market in Florida to a near halt. No flood insurance means no mortgage in flood zones.
SCOOP by @Zhirji28 w/@laurenthal & me. In a newly revealed March memo, titled "Abolishing FEMA," officials proposed ways to dramatically curtail the US government’s disaster response role. Also the memo proposed four possible new names for FEMA, which inlcuded the National.

Fascinating story from @annamphillips about the clash between government buyouts vs small towns that can’t afford to let people go. Makes me wonder what that will look like in some rural, riverfront Florida communities. Or maybe even the Keys one day?.
washingtonpost.com
Floodplain buyouts can reduce the financial toll of future disasters. But some small towns losing property and people are now saying no.

And @sohailal_jamea made this lovely animation explaining the process we're talking about. Notice how the higher groundwater levels make it even easier for rainfall to cause flooding

Adding in the groundwater connection doesn't necessarily show flooding in new areas. @semerriam overlaid flood complaints in Fort Lauderdale with Broward's future scenarios mapping and found they match pretty well
