As someone on this app said, "Die by your principles, not your methods". You can achieve your intended football in many ways. That's the beauty of the game. For younger players I would keep them in roles so they can learn new techniques from exposure - and then maximise later.
As a manager should you. A) stick with a system that’s tried and tested and worked for you in the past, even if it doesn’t maximise the players at your disposal now. B) Use a system that best maximises and profiles the player you have to your disposal?. Genuine question.
