I spent some time reviewing the abstracts for the 15 NSF SaTC awards identified as "Woke DEI" grants by @SenateCommerce. Taken on their own terms, I find the committee's determination of these grants to be incorrect in 8 of the cases (53% error rate).
Senate has released a statement on "Woke DEI" grants with a link to all identified awards. It's worth checking up on what's happenign in our area.

While many of us are torn apart by the world conflict at this point in time, I find solace in hearing Yuval Noah, if you haven't seen this video, should definitely watch it. #worldpeace

We started off making bulky/clunky sensors (WiForce, NSDI'21)! ForceSticker (to appear, Ubicomp'23) miniaturizes it to size of a rice-grain that allows sticker-like batteryless and wireless sensors. Teaser Video: https://t.co/p4nboPwyNx Paper Link:

📰⚖️ Many applications need to measure force between 2 objects. @Agrim_G9 et al's ForceSticker is a paper thin sensor that replaces bulky alternatives with cheap + flexible: https://t.co/fGDxFYXCMc

A cool invention from our lab... Congrats Manideep Dunna!
Imagine you can open your fridge, open an app on your phone and immediately know which items are expiring within a few days. This is one of the applications that a new technology developed by our engineers would enable. https://t.co/JuTGqbglU2

Delighted to share that undergraduate student in my group was awarded excellence across ECE department. As his advisor, I am truly delighted to his next adventures. Very well deserved! #studentsucess @RainiWu
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Award of Excellence goes to Raini Wu. He conducted research on wireless communication and sensing, and was active in @IEEE_EtaKappaNu. He's completing his BS/MS at @UCSanDiego next year. Congrats, Raini! https://t.co/oi8bvdd0wr

Last several years, We have been working on building an indoor robotics platform that can navigate and map in all environments -- dark & NLOS, where cameras fails. It builds everyday WiFi as a sensor like a camera into SLAM algorithms #Robotics #indoor Congrats @ASaRoshan, Aditya
Using everyday WiFi signals, @UCSanDiego engineers developed a new technology to help robots "see" & navigate better indoors, even in poor lighting & visually ambiguous environments. @BharadiaDinesh's lab will present the tech next week at @ieee_ras_icra. https://t.co/9MMfE46BCi
