UGX200,000,000x529mps = 105,800,000,000 ($30,228,571). At $4 per dose, this money would've bought 7,557,142 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine. You can use this information as you see fit. Just don't run mad

I am beginning to think we r giving that young German MP more attention than is necessary on this EACOP thing. Remember that kind of engagement is what those kids present back home as a sign that their protest is a success. The more vitriolic it is the better. Time to ignore him

The Virus Research Institute which everyone now pegs their hopes on since Corona outbreak is like the proverbial neglected wife when it comes to govt funding. If it weren't for donors, that facility wld barely exist. The Entire health sector btw gets jst 9% of the National Budget

How can a major TV station be this clueless about the context and nuance of a major international movement, and so ignorant of its gist even amidst global wall to wall 24hr news coverage of it? This is the calibre of journalists we have today?!! Good Lord!

With The MPs 40M sweetheart deal, Ugandan corruption is now officially institutionalized. Bribes are now factored into the budget and appropriation process, and blatantly given a budget line in the national budget. We are now, officially, a Kleptocracy. We've crossed the Rubicon!

Our parliament is now Instagram. Members, rather than debate public policy issues have bcome Influencers keen on dressing 'sharp', 'brothering' & 'sistering' one another with useless pleasantries while bombarding social media with 'cute' photos of themselves. How did we get here?

@tumisole @Julius_S_Malema Seeing that my Mzansi peeps are struggling to understand the cartoon, let me help: Our president since 1986, Yoweri Museveni warns Ugandans that opposing him is poking a leopard's anus. So Malema's recent support of Bobi Wine was seen in that light 😂😂

I have a suggestion: @Makerere should consider having an annual high powered almni dinner. It would have potential to be the most anticipated event on the annual social calendar, raise money for charitable causes and boost uni's it's CSR. Many alumni are awash with cash @kasyate

@cobbo3 I've spent time in many African countries and I am always shocked by the 'supermarket culture' there. In Zim nearly everyone shops in supermarkets for food. Ditto south Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi. You will not find vibrant roadside/open air makers like Kalerwe, Nakasero,

PHOTOS from anti IEBC protests by Kenyans in 2016. As we Ugandans admire the freedoms Kenyans are seemingly enjoying in this poll, let's remember those freedoms were tenaciously fought for and won, not given to them on a silver platter by the State. #KenyaDecides2022

It was a rite of passage for 'freshers' to take a picture in front of the Ivory Tower to show 'haters' that you had made it. I performed the ritual in 2003 after arriving from Kisoro. For village kids like me this was a bigger deal. MUK was/Is a great equaliser 😥 #MakerereFire

Lest you forget, an excerpt from the ruling by JB Katutsi as he dismissed rape accusations against @kizzabesigye1 , a case in which the new @URAuganda boss was a prominent witness for the prosecution. I doubt we will ever have a more lyrical and poetic judge! @Winnie_Byanyima

My village is completely cut off from the rest of Uganda. This is Mt Muhavura/Mgahinga National Park Road in Kisoro where the famed mountain gorilla is. We forfeited our land to govt in 1991 to gazette this national park. Where is the tourist dollars, govt priorities? @UNRA_UG ?

On the map it looks near. Yet Entebbe to Dakar is about 10hrs of flying. That's longer than EBB to Heathrow and some other EU destinations. Apparently the early mappers were remarkably petty in their racism, extending it to cartography. So Africa looks smaller than its real size

So the average income earned per person was $260 in 1986 and shot to $3.9bn in 2020! Clearly this muzzukulu mixed up GDP and GDP per capita. I don't begrudge these young people making a quick buck evangelising for Sevo on social media but I think they need technical supervision

The downside of living in a poor country where median age is 17 and 80% of the population is under 35, it's hard to find serious conversation online. Only Relationships, dating, slaying, 'transport' and other pettiness. When you are 40yrs in Uganda, you are literally a fossil.
