Hopefully we can all get behind a value-based public health system. Too much of public health focuses on doing what feels right instead of doing what actually makes things right for the public we serve.

The FDA statement ends with a paragraph undermining its own warning. They signal parents to avoid acetaminophen. Except sometimes. And then: No “causal relationship… established” with ADHD or autism AND Alternatives to acetaminophen have “well-documented adverse impacts.”

The very first shot a baby gets is now under review. Should the Hep B “birth dose” stay the starting point of America’s vaccine schedule, or be delayed to rebuild trust? We asked @DrPaulOffit & @michaelmina_lab, take a listen here: https://t.co/qM3mMakrhE

Rural communities are the foundation and backbone of American exceptionalism, and the Rural Health Transformation Fund is offering structural fixes to their health care challenges. We look forward to working with America’s governors to Make Rural America Healthy Again.

Rural America deserves a health care system built for reality, not one that’s made up of urban leftovers. The Rural Health Transformation Program provides $50 billion across all 50 states, and applications are now open. We encourage governors to think big!

Statements like this are wrong. Americans are not at war against each other. What we’re up against is a scary + rising minority of violent lunatics fueled by hate and division. But they do not speak for anywhere near the majority of our population. We cannot act like they do.

Trump’s newest pick for CDC Director isn’t a medical doctor. But that could be a strength, rather than a weakness.

Effective workforce development and higher education policy recognizes an all of the above approach: R1, public regionals, community colleges, and trade and vocational schools. Don't fall for zero sum thinking. We need all pathways for citizens to flourish.

Blue states tend to do better in K-12 education because they are wealthier and have higher rates of parents with tertiary education. But if you adjust for those ingrained advantages, blue state performance diminishes, and the south broadly emerges as leaders.
