Man who preaches abundance calls adding 24 GWs of new nuclear generation and extending the life of EVERY nuclear plant in this country (some multiple times) “a pretty low bar.”. We live in strange times.

This person, wrongly criticizes @energybants for defending the @NRCgov, but neglects to mention that the NRC RELICENSED every U.S. Nuclear plant and has driven important growth in how nuclear plants are operated safely. Hot takes abound!.

Ho Nieh is nominated to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Nieh was the former Director of the NRC Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, and is currently working for Southern Company and INPO.

Georgia PSC commissioner says that cost protection AND fixed prices are the only way to see approvals for new nuclear technologies. But doesn’t a fixed price contract resolve the need for cost protection to begin with? Wouldn’t the vendor cover the overages on a fixed price?🧐.
@Beazy_Rampezy @AP1000_PWR Because the third GE unit with have a fixed and firm price, but not the AP1000. Commissioners around the country will not approve reactors without firm pricing, without some protection for ratepayers.

Georgia PSC commissioners says a federal backstop “might” not be enough for more AP1000s in Georgia. Sigh. Huge sigh.
Get us a federal backstop for overruns and bankruptcy and we might build four more @AP1000_PWR units.
