In Germany it's rude to go in public with your face covered, esp. as a sign of identification with religious fanaticism. I approach these women and explain this to them. There are countries in which this behavior is tolerated, Germany's not 1 of them, adapt or face rejection.

The entire Tresor experience is better than Berghain. Lovely door staff, a genuinely unpretentious, diverse crowd, Tip-only garderobe. Berlin clubs don't need to be so hostile to their customers.

What Berlin is missing is a massive beer hall, right in the centre of Mitte with decent prices and gruff yet humane staff. Gaffel am Dom in Köln for instance, is amazing - my arse had hardly hit the seat before there was a wee Kölsch shoved in front of me.

I've banged on about contemporary architecture being rubbish in Berlin but this on Köpenicker Str is one of the exceptions. The balance of concrete, timber and foliage hits a sweet spot and I like the incorporation of the (presumably) denkmalschutz brick facade. 1/2

There is sadly very little photographic evidence of this but Glasgow's Virginia Galleries was an incredible wee arcade until its destruction in the late 90s. Anarchist book shops, records, bongs......everything I needed when I was 16 years old.
People interested in arcades may not know about 19C Australian examples - I didn't!
