We are located in the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park. We want to better understand cell-type specific mechanisms underlying brain physiology and pathology.
Joined October 2019
Some days ago, together with the group of Manu Valero from @HMar_research, we enjoyed a fantastic Retreat in my hometown Camprodon. We spent 3 days full of scientific discussions about our research projects, good moments and nature with autumn colors.

When you start your lab, nobody has taught you how to supervise or overcome multiple difficulties of a PhD. I am happy that today the first PhD from my lab was well defended. Congrats Laura! Many thanks to @CarlesSaura, Ester Aso and Miriam Melis for an inspiring discussion.

Tomorrow, I will be in Zaragoza participating to a new edition of the Research Career Course organized by the @academia_joven. During this course we will discuss about research funding, evaluation, dissemination, ethics, emotional management, among other important topics.
Empezamos la IV Edición de Curso de la Carrera Investigadora, este año contamos en la organización con @CSIC y @unizar. Hablaremos de temas como financiación, evaluación, divulgación, inclusion, gestión emocional, integridad o transferencia. #CarreraIvestigadora

The main findings are briefly summarized here: ➡️ Indirect associated cues through second-order conditioning triggers distinct behavioral responses compared to cues directly associated with reinforcer. ➡️ Older mice struggle with second-order conditioning

Our contribution, led by our postdoc @CarlaRDuaso , has been to infuse MitoDREADD in the hippocampus of APP/PS1 mice, a mouse model of amyloidosis accompanied by cognitive decline, and show how the enhancement of mitochondrial activity reverse memory deficits in this mouse model.
