I still don’t think people understand what it means for 33 million people to be displaced. That’s 6 times more people than those internally displaced in Ukraine from war, that’s roughly 90% of the population of Canada. That’s how many people are internally homeless right now

Parts of Pakistan are over 122 ℉/ 50 ℃ right now. Let me break it down; Our bodies maintain an average 97-99.5 ℉ temperature in heat and cold. When the outside environment gets so hot that your body can not sweat to maintain equilibrium it starts going into shock

Of the 33 million people people displaced due to the floods in Pakistan, many are living In shanty towns, their only belongings; sacks of clothes. They are being forced to survive on 2-3 cups of tea a day. It's so painful to know that it hasn't even been a week & the world forgot

It doesn’t matter if your a climate activist or not, if your an Indian citizen or not, Disha’s rights to freedom of speech are being contested with and we can not allow that to happen. #StandWithDishaRavi

And although Pakistan’s textile industry literally clothes the rest of the world, we produce less than 1% of GHG emmisson yet we pay in dead bodies time and time again. Pakistan is ranked the 5th most affected country in THE world to climate change.

The victory on a loss and damage fund has been incredible to watch, I applaud the island nations, the youth who day and day out campaigned, indigenous peoples and everyone who refused to take no for an answer.

Over 300 children have died, tens of thousands have become displaced & entire states have lost access to internet. Flooding destroyed roads and pathways leaving ppl trying to escape stranded. Balochistan experienced some of the worst affects of these floods with hundreds dead

being a POC is not the same as being black in America. We have a great deal of anti-blackness in our communities, and we are not exempt from holding our own accountable. We too need to actively be anti-racist.

I’ve been told that I’m soft spoken and its something that I embrace. I have no desire to be loud. But the amount of times I’ve been cut off my men, or louder people on panels, in meetings is just ridiculous. Why must we rush, enlarge everything until it is reduced to nothing?

MENA and South Asia didn’t fall apart overnight. It happened after the West industrialized and needed fossil fuel to function. Oil companies, share holders and governments affiliated with oil companies have the blood of millions on their hands.

And before you say its more nuanced than that, that there are a great deal of political actors in play, I ask "who do you think is responsible for aiding, funding and escalating political instability in those regions? Who benefited from the spoils?

The BLM movement has served as a rude but imperative awakening for the climate movement b/c it has shown us what protest actually looks like. When you are a credible threat to power, you don't get to make a brand out of pain, or attain permits & permission to take to the streets.

I’m seeing a lot of people celebrating the shutting down of the Dakota Access pipeline, with platitudes like “activism works” without acknowledging that indigenous people have led this fight and won this fight. It is their struggle which has led to this victory.

The 1.5 degrees compromise made in Paris is no longer on the negotiations table. The nations that make up the UN, at COP26 literally said ‘we don’t care of you die, we’re going to keep colluding with fossil fuel and prioritizing profit’. #Pollutersout

When I say #cop26 is inequitable, I mean it’s a money making Coachella for governments. Every day flight tickets are increasing, hotels are charging criminal amounts of money for lodging. It really is a simulation for the world coming to an end & poor people getting fucked over.

This is THE MOST IMPORTANT decade in human history. The governments in power are the last institutions that can put in place policies that might allow us to stay alive. Anyone who is telling you to be grateful for where we are right now in regards to climate is lying to you.
