Beautiful, of course! But I have always thought that libraries should not be designed vertically; it makes it seem that knowledge is unattainable. They should be built horizontally; it makes it so that the more you walk by foot, the more you have access to knowledge. #libraries

Just heard that my chapter on Islamic law will be required reading in a “Theory & Methods for Religious Studies” course — and will be taught alongside the work of Sam Gill. A rite of passage for a young scholar like myself. Happy! Honored! Humbled! 🙏 https://t.co/mJjWraR3mH

This is a direct consequence of the Ata-ur-Rehman-led disastrous reform of the HEC—doling out hundreds of worthless PhD degrees & incentivizing numbers. Rehman’s promise of a brighter future through (low-quality) graduate programs is a scam that now generations fall victim to.

Those who aspire to comment on academic matters should really take out a minute to cite sources properly. This thread borrows heavily from — in fact quotes verbatim — Khaled El-Rouayheb’s “Rethinking the Canons of Islamic Intellectual History” (2013). Why no acknowledgment?!
The canons of Islamic intellectual history have changed significantly over the past 2 centuries. Scholars who happened to be the most influential are barely known today. 2 straight examples are 1. North African Ash'ari Muhammad b. Yusuf al Sanusi 2. Sa'd al Dīn al-Taftāzānī 🧵
