For #NaNoWriMo this year, I'm using trackbear to track my words instead of the original site. Still aiming for that 50k words in 30 days, just independent of the organization after their struggles.

No one should be encouraging, supporting, or otherwise promoting #NaNoWriMo. That's the tweet.

Hi #GDQx gamers! Due to an issue at the TwitchCon venue, we will be rescheduling the Super Metroid race to tomorrow. We appreciate everyone's patience while we sorted this out! See you tomorrow at 10:30am Pacific!

Extremely disappointed in #scrivener for being so... Pro... Everything #nanowrimo is doing. Like Ew I have a Scrivener license and now I regret having a Scrivener license Alt I highly recommend: LibreOffice It's FREE and not fond of defending pedophiles and AI

#NaNoWriMo is no longer committed to storing the novels written as part of their Young Writers Program. If you or someone in your life used the YWP site, you should back up your work asap

The #nanowrimo statement has been updated with a different non-apology, with no hint of being edited. Left: the original statement pulled this morning from https://t.co/GVO9BC0FQS Right: the statement on https://t.co/aLa5lwwDDf as of a few minutes ago

#nanowrimo statement about the AI debacle, which doesn't include an apology for dunking on disabled writers. The Zendesk FAQ is also edited. Full text at https://t.co/aLa5lwwDDf (and at https://t.co/GVO9BC0FQS which goes to the mega Google doc, thanks whoever did that)

Scrivener just issued a long statement on not withdrawing their #nanowrimo sponsorship, despite finding NaNo's view bizarre. https://t.co/zosD7M5nHZ No screenshots because it's just over two desktop screenshots long.

On this, just to say that, as sponsors, we have been in regular touch with NaNoWriMo over the past few days to express our concerns and those of our users, pushing them to rethink what they are...

This is the biggest 🖕non-apology I have ever read. You can't retract a statement as a "mistake" after you wrote in an edit that stood by your position! #nanowrimo #fuckai #writingcommunity https://t.co/fgyMTvzQNj

This is going to get attention soon, so here's Freewrite's statement in the New York Times. I was unable to find one before now. #nanowrimo HQ has been swift to remove sponsors lately upon request, so this error is very interesting. https://t.co/Z8tzVSpQB8 (possible paywall)

This whole controversy from #NaNoWriMo about how its "classist" not to allow AI in writing. I'm a working class writer. There are lots of us. Yes it is hard for me to write. But AI isn't going to help me tell my story...

New #Nanowrimo news. Updated letter to the community which reveals that they cannot afford to pay their Interim executive director. Also "Harassment and intimidation" was people nicely asking on the #NaNoWriMo facebook page for something other than sponsor content.

OUCH. This one... hurts. A concerned user got a response from @ScrivenerApp. They have no plans to withdraw their sponsorship for #NaNoWriMo, even going as far to defend them. Note the font difference in the last paragraph - it's a copy-paste from another document.

Interestingly @getfreewrite is no longer listed on the @NaNoWriMo website as a 25th anniversary sponsor. Can anyone confirm Free Write has withdrawn support for #NaNoWriMo

Also @ScrivenerApp please please pull your sponsorship for @NaNoWriMo . I'm sure there's a cancellation clause in your contract so I promised to purchase your product at full price if you do! Share if you feel the same!

Also, I don't know the point of this thread. I'm just sad and broken and disappointed and just watching the rest of the world. See what we've been seeing since last November is really really hard right now. Whatever you do wherever you are, don't stop writing!

I do not think that #NaNoWriMo is going to survive in it's current format and even if it did, I'm done. Being told that me, a severely disabled writer, is "ablest" hurts. Hurts more than anything I've been through in my writing career.
