It is extremely troubling to see the errors and omissions in care that led up to the tragic deaths of Grace O’Malley-Kumar, Barnaby Webber and Ian Coates. Our thoughts are with all who love them.

Many will still be feeling the effects of the past week's racist and Islamophobic violence. While the immediate threat of disorder seems to have lessened, the fear may still be very present. We know that racism can have a 'weathering', eroding effect on our mental health.

🗨️ Beyond words: Why language matters for social security and mental health Shifting the narrative around benefits and mental health is the first step towards a more compassionate, evidence-based system, say @n_treloar and @Andy__Bell__ : https://t.co/M7Rm39WZqW

Another 🧵 because there's so much to discuss on this topic. A key finding is that poverty and mental ill-health don't affect all communities equally. Some groups are disproportionately impacted, trapped in a toxic cycle. #ADualCrisis
🧵Child poverty is finally getting attention in national debates, but we need immediate action to tackle its impacts, including on mental health. Our latest @CentreforMH x @CYPMentalHealth x @savechildrenuk report explores the link between poverty & mental health👇🏾#ADualCrisis

Here’s a thread on our new @CentreforMH @CYPMentalHealth research with @savechildrenuk on the ‘dual crisis’ of child poverty and mental ill health. We’ve learned about what this means for parents and children & made recommendations for lasting change
📈 Rates of child poverty and mental health problems in children have both risen sharply in recent years. They're inextricably linked: we can't tackle one without the other. Young people & parents told us @CYPMentalHealth @savechildrenuk about the impact of living in poverty 🧵👇

Important research from @PollardTom @NEF showing that benefit conditions aren’t only harmful and ineffective, they’re also not acceptable to the public once people realise how punitive they are. Our research today shows they also undermine families’ & children’s mental health

Distressing yet essential reading from @CYPMentalHealth, @savechildrenuk & @CentreforMH. We support the call for the government to deliver on its manifesto pledge of a comprehensive & effective child poverty strategy and the introduction of a cross-government mental health plan.

Tackling poor mental health among children is impossible unless we also tackle poverty. We're urging the Government to deliver its manifesto pledge of a child poverty strategy, hand-in-hand with a cross-government mental health plan: https://t.co/uy6HteGlSk

This on the public health grant is worth noting. The grant is expected to fall by £193m (5.5%) in real terms over the course of this SR. The value decreasing by £846m (20.1%) between 2015/16 and 2924/25. Penny wise pound foolish?
