🗽 Valentine and Horst met in New York City in 1947 and Valentine resigned his career in the diplomatic service and settled in the United States so they could be together. They made their home in a modernist house designed by Horst at Oyster Bay Cove on Long Island.

📸 These letters are a valuable addition to the papers we already hold here at the Archives Centre. They cast light on a significant aspect of Valentine's life: his longtime personal and creative partnership with the celebrated German American photographer Horst P. Horst.

And finally, in our Valentines series, here is Clementine in 1943, after nearly 35 years of marriage, when the (purring) Kat informs her husband that she "would love a little visit presently" (ref CSCT 1/27/20).

Day 4 of our Valentines thread, and this time Clemmie the Kat has been the slow one, in 1918: “I was dozing peacefully & innocently in my basket with my tail over my eyes when your scolding about no letters arrived”, so she hastily promises to write soon! (Ref CSCT 1/10/3)

Moving on to Clementine and Churchill's first anniversary in 1909, and this letter from "your most loving Clemmie Kat, Miaow!", though "no letter from the bad little Pug yet. The Kat's tail is gradually getting its curl back as you see from the picture!" (ref CSCT 1/3/23).
