Across Gaza, we need security guarantees to be able to deliver life-saving assistance. We stand ready to fulfill our role as a neutral intermediary & support evacuations of medical facilities in Gaza, but this requires an agreement by the parties.

Taking #hostages is prohibited under International Humanitarian Law. @ICRC facilitated the release of 4 of them in Gaza. We keeps tirelessly pressing for immediate access to - and release of - all remaining hostages.

I am deeply alarmed to hear that an ICRC humanitarian convoy in Gaza City came under fire while bringing lifesaving support. I can't stress this enough: civilians, hospitals, ambulances, humanitarian workers must be protected. We stand in solidarity with our ICRC colleagues.
