This year, the voices of Syrian families of missing persons, as well as their powerful testimonies and humbling words of support to all families of missing persons around the world could finally be heard… from within Syria.

At the session on Transitional Justice, very powerful messages were conveyed about the imperative to place survivors & families of missing at the centre of all efforts to bring justice or determine the fate & whereabouts of persons gone missing during the past decade.

Today, during the first edition in Damascus of the « Day of Dialogue with the Syrian Civil Society », we had the privilege to hear first-hand the voice of Syrians about their hopes & concerns on a range of issues: Transitional Justice, Social Cohesion or Humanitarian Aid/Recovery

Through coordinated technical, legal advisory & institutional support to the national efforts, the three international organizations make yet another important step toward strengthening the right to know the truth, preserving the dignity of the missing & supporting their families

Today, the @ICRC , @TheICMP & the @IIMP signed a joint declaration with the National Commission for Missing Persons to express their commitment to join forces to support Syrian national efforts to determine the fate & whereabout of tens of thousands of missing persons in #Syria

The @ICRC, in cooperation with @SYRedCrescent and Hasakah Water Directorate, has rehabilitated 11 Water Purification Plants in Hasakeh city, including 4 powered by solar energy, to ensure continuous access to safe drinking water for residents.

Three of Nadia’s sons went #missing during the conflict, leaving her with memories in every corner of her home, and the hope, that one day, she will get to hold them again. Nadia like many others in #Syria is still waiting. Time won’t heal their pain, only the answers will.
