I don't think I can be on here any more - the Musk/Trump axis is just too evil, & I don't want to support any of it in any way. I've really enjoyed my time here & loved so many discussions - will start on Bluesky @amydickman.bsky.social - hope you see you there!

Private investment could help fund human-wildlife coexistence - but who sets the terms? Success depends not just on conservation metrics but on early, ongoing, and equitable engagement with local communities. Co-design isn’t a bonus, it’s the foundation. https://t.co/3y7WrnB4Rn

Research reveals unintended effects of Japan’s wildlife trade bans on 3 species. Trade in these species dropped but shifted to other vulnerable species, highlighting the importance of consumer research, monitoring and enforcement beyond banned species. https://t.co/F79rZCbHFy

When dominant predators decline, mid-sized predators often increase, but it’s not that simple. A new review led by Emily Madsen shows suppression happens across sizes, with canids often studied in subordinate roles. Read more👉 https://t.co/U3OseR908B

Pleased to have helped out with this research, which provides fascinating insights on how different publics, in Africa and elsewhere, view key trade-offs in #conservation
Should the interests of people or wild animals be the priority in conservation? And should individual animals or groups of animals be the focus? New research from @WildCRU_Ox shows there's more than just a Global North-South divide on these questions 👇 https://t.co/uuTD4xkyeo

I don't know how anyone can look at what's happening in the US right now, and not be horrified, appalled and scared

I have covered presidential politics for 40 years. This was the most juvenile display by a President and Vice President I have ever seen. Other presidents treated their enemies with more respect. This is a low point and a dark day for the US.

Scientists leaving the US as Trump wrecks the joint. Hey @AlboMP Tony Burke, Ed Husic: throw open Australia’s doors to US scientists. Remember Albert Einstein? Get our universities onside.>> Americans Are Heading for the Exits https://t.co/5IehtrwtJq via @newrepublic

Go ahead and roll your eyes at those who want to emigrate amid Trump’s second term, but it’s a worrying trend.

So honoured and moved to have received a copy of @KSAfricaHack's #rhino book after his untimely death last year. Keith was such a fantastic voice in #conservation & I'm thrilled that his vital insights live on through his books ❤️

A strong rebuttal from @WWF to the frankly shameful piece of "journalism" via @guardian and Adam Cruise. Well done WWF for standing up to this kind of nonsense https://t.co/03RAv00oiI

Good to see @WWF responding to the nonsense article published in the @guardian recently, which just seemed to be a biased hatchet job, attacking evidence based decision making

A great thread from @Nikolaj_Bi Make no mistake - celebrities indulging in conservation posturing are often a clear danger to the natural world. And are utterly despised by many on the ground.
I don't know if these UK celebrities are in so much of a bubble and so high on their own wildlife conservation infallibility as semi-famous people that they just don't register the harm they're doing, or if they genuinely don't care. Either way, it's a sad repetition. 9/9

All the professional celebrity virtue signalers are sharing their outrage at this new article now, and it's a sad reminder of previous times when Western "animal lovers" caused harm to Arctic Indigenous communities while not helping wildlife at all. 🧵1/9
