One of my first African American heroes. I went to Paul Robeson Academy in Detroit, and he was an expansive example of what being an artist, intellectual, and activist was. There was no handwringing about how everything connected for him.
Paul Robeson used to be one of the most famous black men in American history, and now no one knows who he is “The decision was made very clearly to erase him from American life.”
