And let’s not forget the Germans can and will call the police on you for running air conditioning even if you have a medical condition .

💨 Great article in @FT today urging Europe to stop restricting the installation and use of air conditioning. If Europe continues its current course and keeps regulating against air conditioning, then heat-related deaths will soon reach over 500,000 per year. Installing AC in

Day 1654 is a bit early as I don’t know when I’ll be awake as I go through my post operative care cycle of sleeping and rotating 3 different antibiotics

Day 1653 and an exciting day of surgery which ended with Cipro. Or an indictment of the American healthcare system which ignored my attempts & preventative care. End results? Almost septic. But Istanbul rocks

I’m out of surgery. I cried but was a breeze. Beautiful doctor in a silk dress & pearl’s got a gallon of pus w/out incident. Full curettage of abscess. It’s so gnarly I got prescribed Cipro plus 2 other antibiotics. Close to sepsis. Poor preventative care dermatologist in

Update as I head into surgery which is a bit glorified as it’s incision with ultrasound guidance and local anesthesia. If we can get it all out (including the fracking hair as I’m calling it went sideways causing problems). If not then they will put me under to finish.

We need a much stronger taboo against influencers including you in their perma-streaming w/out consent. Karen that I am I got lounge manager to stop this woman from streaming my breakfast live. I gave some extra space for her privacy but what an irritating thing

One thing I still can’t square is (1) the AI world (mostly) moving forward quickly (2) the government of the United States more or less actively destroying itself. I don’t know if one will overpower the other but right now they feel like parallel universes.

Day 1651 is about the failure of preventative healthcare in America, the joy of a successful market in Turkish medical tourism, and doctors using technology to stay ahead and get back to being doctors Also container ships which I love

Thankfully the care here is so good I know I will be fine. It’s just amazing how well integrated the finest medical practices are into the hospitality industry here. Sure I need a surgeon but look at these container ships. I’ll recover well

I am in Istanbul & getting sliced up for the second time in months. This one is a little bit more intense than a meiborn gland infection. Look at how deep that sideways irritant burrowed. Like a hair decided to try cyst fracking because normal drilling isn’t enough

The Economist spent my entire childhood advocating for this system. I lived for their opinions. I believed our refuge system a moral obligation. I still do for the refuges of our own wars (Korea, Vietnam, Balkans, Kurds, GWOT alliances).

The asylum system is not working. It cannot cope with a world of proliferating conflict, cheap travel and huge wage disparities. A more pragmatic approach starts by helping refugees find shelter closer to home

a new Right to Compute Act has been introduced in Ohio. Recall that a similar measure passed in Montana recently, and a right to compute constitutional amendment is still pending in New Hampshire.
