Visual auras attributed to #migraines after #catheter ablation procedures are NOT due to the transseptal (as shown in a randomized trial of transseptal v not) BUT ARE associated with acute brain emboli in the visual cortex. Strong work by first author and now @UCSFCardiology EP
Visual auras after cardiovascular procedures may be a sign of brain injury or little strokes, a UCSF study finds. “This finding could change the whole paradigm of treatment, perhaps focusing more on prevention of blood clots," Dr. @gregorymmarcus says.
