Congratulations on an important trial that will directly inform common discussions we have with our patients in pretty much every single EP clinic @atulverma_md @AHAScience I'm sure the question has already frequently arisen: would apixaban have performed differently?

Should coffee drinkers with atrial fibrillation (AF) decrease coffee intake? ☕ A randomized clinical trial published in JAMA found that patients with AF who consumed caffeinated coffee had a lower risk of recurrent AF or atrial flutter compared with those who abstained.

DECAF: In an open-label multi-national RCT of N=200 pts with persistent AF consuming avg ~1cup coffee per day, maintaining coffee consumption led to *reduced* AF/AFL recurrence vs abstinence! https://t.co/myl9ugiUpq

#UCSFMHP2025: @gregorymmarcus on hospital arrhythmias. A Fib pearls: 1) New AF in hospital (PNA, post-op): generally should still anticoagulate 2) DOAC lowers the risk of dementia in AF 3) In AF: exercise good, EtOH bad, coffee is OK 4) Ablation works, but (for now) continue DOAC

In case there remain some aspiring/ future EPs still on X: What to do if your encounter this in the EP lab? Fortunately, this tracing has already nicely excluded atrial tach and AVRT. It would not be unreasonable to empirically burn the slow pathway. However, you would want to do
Crowdsourcing this ECG that a colleague sent me. I don't know much history other than there has been no heart surgery and no dig use RR intervals are stable (I have never seen such a thing.)

Nothing obstructs science more than dogma. The evidence that one drink a day is harmful, helpful or neither remains UNKNOWN- There is no randomized trial- the main barrier getting in the way of this randomized trial are overconfident statements that “pick a side” (currently due
