We have developed the Colon Map for Training to offer a structured approach for colonoscopy intubation. Created by training teams at Torbay and Cheltenham and Gloucester as part of the South West Endoscopy Training Academy, and based on JAG courses over last 20 years!

Making it standard practice to open a left handed instrument set whenever you have a left handed surgeon operating would be nice for inclusivity at a low level (not to compare this to EDI in other contexts).

I've occasionally wondered whether having (a) "left-handed tray(s)" of common surgical instruments that can be easily accessed and reprocessed would be an easy win? They could even be a different colour for easy identification when you have a lefty operating with a righty.

It's not the end of the world and I don't think I'd call it bullying or such, but the impact of it always being 'a thing' and having to account for yourself is a bit tiresome. There's definitely a subtext of being less 'welcome'.

Richard Osman, I believe, has commented on the psychological impact of everyone mentioning how tall he is all the time. Every time another surgeon finds out I'm left handed it's like I have to explain/excuse myself. Some even openly call me defective (or similar).
