Excited to announce my first research paper on macroautophagy in aged pre-ovulatory oocytes is out! π¬π₯Using comprehensive image analysis methods, we found key components of the #macroautophagy pathway are altered in aged mouse pre-ovulatory oocytes(1/2)

Accompanying the precipitous age-related decline in human female fertility is an increase in the proportion of poor-quality oocytes within the ovary. The mac...

We also generated an in vitro chloroquine treatment model to mimic the mechanism of these changes.π§«π Overall, our findings indicate that autophagy is dysfunctional in aged oocytes + provides new info to aid with improvement of #pooroocytequality in #agerelatedinfertility! (2/2)

Itβs national fertility week! My research focuses on the contribution of autophagy to poor egg quality; a hallmark of female fertility decline with age. Hereβs a little pic of me and the eggs Iβm working on today π₯π#fertilityweek2020 #femalefertility #fertilityresearch

The positivity I need right now ππΌππ»
No, we are NOT doomed. 1) SARS-CoV-2 has a fatty coating, so soap & alcohol will disrupt it 2) Case Fatality Rate is 0.5%, not 30% like MERS, not 85% like Cholera in 1800s in France 3) itβs not as transmissible as measles 4) we will get vaccine, but must do social distancing now

Evidence shows burden on female academics from March 2020 with % accepted papers with female lead dropping by 27%. We must acknowledge the gender inequity in academia and consequence of #COVID on #womeninSTEM

Scientists seem to spend so long making figures look pretty and formatting. Shouldn't the journal just pay a person to do this? Your time is valuable, your graphics skills don't matter to quality of the science, there are people trained in this, and journals have the money.
