It's amazing to see so little focus on the regulatory and policy failings that contributed to the energy crisis, compared to the financial crisis of '08. The bank bailout package cost £137bn, the energy package will likely be over £100bn. These are comparable, yet... (1/3)

Before it became a crisis, maybe better to have spent £15bn on renewable energy infrastructure and home improvement to reduce the UKs exposure to the fossil price shocks which recur every so often?

It’s time schools did away with the brutal and archaic practice of “picking teams” in games. Superficially appealing because it naturally creates evenly matched sides. But for children who are not sporty, or not popular, or just not the right kind of sporty, it’s torture. 🧵

@chrisaylett @ShefUniPolitics As far as we know it was largely Rishi Sunak’s unwillingness to spend any additional money on a home retrofitting programme that explains its absence from the energy strategy today. But it then has to be added that it betrays a terrible weakness on Johnson’s and Kwarteng’s parts.

The Russian parliament has voted to make a law, one of the most draconian since the collapse of the Soviet Union, which will see protesters imprisoned for TEN YEARS for the "crime" of "making too much noise" while protesting peacefully. Oh did I say "Russian"? I meant "British".

Biochar production using grubbed orchard trees as a feedstock, to improve soil fertility and for long term carbon sequestration; just learned that our grant application for a pilot project for proof of concept has been successful. Super excited. #biochar #farming #climatechange
