Just out in @theMJA, with @AckermannDee 👉systematic review of COVID RATs approved for self-testing in Australia. We found a much⬆️risk of false negatives in published studies than is stated in manufacturer‐supplied information on the TGA website. https://t.co/esfTNNpy9B

Most trials failed to report key details or effectiveness of adherence strategies supporting skin self-examination. Future studies could focus on reminders, clinician feedback, action plans, digital technology, and supporting underserved groups.

Reporting of adherence data was limited, and fewer than half of all reports mentioned adherence in their discussion.

Gaps included lack of support for underserved groups (such as people with low health literacy, non-English speakers, or older adults), limited strategies targeting provider adherence, and underutilisation of patient behavioural support strategies, eg reminders and action plans.

The most common adherence strategies used targeted trial design (limiting eligibility criteria, theory-based intervention design) and participant support (mostly by providing educational materials)

@JAMADerm @JAMANetwork In this scoping review of 18 RCTs, we identified key strategies as well as gaps in the way adherence is approached in design, conduct, and reporting of trials of SSE in people at high risk of melanoma.

For this Systematic Review, we set out to estimate the incremental value of coronary artery calcium scans, beyond that provided by traditional cardiovascular risk scores (e.g. Framingham). @DrLinZhu, @2weekSR @PaulGlasziou @wiserhealthcare @syd_health @Institute4EBH 1/6

Coronary artery calcium scans provide a small gain in CVD risk assessment and may have a role in selected patients. Potential harms include false positives, incidental findings, radiation, and cost. No evidence suggests that this provides clinical benefit.
