We know rural Labour MPs will be pleased to hear @wesstreeting say the government is monitoring the response of the farming community to the govt's proposed IHT changes, and that he recognises how important food security is. We look forward to discussing this with govt further.

This morning we had our last regular meeting with the Deputy First Minister before the New Year. We discussed many issues impacting farmers. These included the SFS and the need for it to evolve, IHT and the Budget, bovine TB, Bluetongue and issues within the poultry sector.

"Much more thought is needed here, the thresholds remain too low." Following the Autumn Budget @switherdenMP called on the government to reconsider the devastating Family Farm Tax and has highlighted the pressure it is putting on farmers. Thanks for your support 👏

We want to thank all those Labour MPs who abstained today on Resolution 50. Your farming constituents are hugely grateful for the signal you have sent to the government. We hope together we can make the necessary changes to protect the most vulnerable and elderly farmers.

The Chancellor confirmed in her Autumn Budget that the family farm tax will come into force from April 2026. We have created a checklist on how to get started with professional financial and legal advice. Find our checklist here👉 https://t.co/bCzLBX5nzM

Today’s discussion is about who should drive the tractor. Technically it should be me because my feet can reach the pedals. But apparently I never called ‘shotgun’ 🙄 #farmdog

(1/5) Following the Chancellor’s Budget yesterday, Labour MPs have voiced their continuing concerns that the government’s Family Farm Tax will devastate farming businesses across England and Wales.

"It's still an evil policy." ICYMI 📺| NFU President Tom Bradshaw (@ProagriLtd) told @BBCFarmingToday why the Chancellor's small change to the #familyfarmtax is not enough to remove its cruel impacts on elderly and vulnerable farmers. Listen at 10:11👉 https://t.co/8TCcoLiPQV

Thank you for speaking so sincerely and passionately Tonia, it’s very much appreciated
Labour MP @ToniaAntoniazzi is spot on. The change made yesterday to transferrable allowances is welcomed but doesn't go far enough. We urge the Govt to listen to its backbenchers and make amendments to the Finance Bill to protect the elderly and the terminally ill. @NFUCymru

Electric moment today with @NFUCymru at Royal Welsh Winter Fair. Friends, families, colleagues — all dropping everything to stand as one. When those cards went up, the whole ring stopped. What’s happening to rural Wales is wrong. We’re not backing down. #StopTheFamilyFarmTax

NO IHT! This was our clear message at today's Winter Fair, on the eve of the Chancellor’s Budget announcement. It signalled the strength of feeling amongst rural communities against the UK Government’s planned changes to inheritance tax reliefs. ➡️ https://t.co/DaaVvMYIVu
