🚨 Campsfield IRC is set to reopen by Dec 2025. £140 million(Taxpayer's) is being poured into a detention centre that was shut down in 2018 after repeated reports of harm, neglect and racism. Detaining more people is not the answer. We urge you to abandon these plans.

Depressing 35% increase in deaths in prison and other custody last year. At least 1 death at Brook House IRC which had pending Inquest this month. The Labour government must act quickly and now.
We are acutely aware that when a prisoner dies, bereaved families want answers to their questions quickly. We started investigations into 486 deaths last year, a 35% increase. We are concerned that 100 of these were self-inflicted deaths. This is too many.

Accountability? Just for show. The High Court has just ruled that the Home Office’s system for investigating complaints of mistreatment of people in detention is procedurally unfair. It echoes the findings of the Brook House Inquiry. 📘Read more:
