Arguably the coolest PhD project ever. We are so excited to see these reef mantas getting detected on so many of our receivers positioned on #SouthAfrica's east coast!.
In Mozambique & South Africa, new research has revealed the first recorded cross-border migrations of reef manta rays, uncovering their reliance on protected sanctuaries in the process. More in Nakia Cullain's blog below.

This little project on eagle rays has seen our equipment slowly creeping up the west coast of #SouthAfrica, which has always been a bit of a dead zone for us. In the words of Hannibal Smith, 'We love it when a plan comes together!' .#TeamFish #telemetry.
Michelle Soekoe & team (Reel Science Co.), with @ATAP_ZA, have deployed the 1st acoustic receiver array on the west coast of South Africa. Strategically placed from St Helena to Velddrif, they are a major milestone for telemetry in the region.
