🎤 Mic drop… into the ocean. For #WorldOceansDay, we’re listening closely to the giants of the deep. Slocum gliders are equipped with hydrophones to listen for whale calls. These underwater microphones allow OTN collaborators to develop policies to protect endangered whales.

Sponges: nature’s biodiversity monitors 🌊🧽 In partnership with @FishOceansCAN & @LJMU, we're using biofouling on moorings off NS to develop a cutting-edge biodiversity tool. Glass sponges capture environmental DNA (eDNA), revealing species like basking sharks & pilot whales.
