Good morning. Air quality this morning in DC area is WORSE than yesterday, with widespread CODE RED and CODE PURPLE (unhealthy for all) and even CODE MAROON (hazardous) toward Baltimore. Limit/reduce time outside, avoid strenuous exercise and/or wear masks.

DC is under a Code Red Air Quality Alert: Stay indoors if you can, and wear a mask if you have to go outside. Avoid strenuous activity outdoors and limit time spent outside as much as possible.

NPS will be closing part of park near where two objects were found a few weeks ago. No Trespassing signs will be put up along the northern stretch of the wooded area in Fort Totten Park, as well as concrete blocks and fencing on the southern edge and along the service road...

On April 18, NPS staff found two metal canisters in a mound of soil in Fort Totten Park. Out of an abundance of caution and until more research can be completed, a portion of the park has been #closed by USPP. #Formoreinformation visit https://t.co/LpSteKb1wp

.@dcfireems at my local ANC meeting talking about a fire that recently took the life of an elderly neighbor. She had a portable heater plugged into an extension cord, and no apparent smoke detectors. Fire fighters only noticed smoke while driving by from getting gas.
