Air hunger Death rattle Shutting down These terms are downright scary!! It’s no wonder people avoid the topic of dying. Language matters! Instead; Breathlessness Wet respirations Declining Don’t contribute to the unnecessary catastrophizing of ordinary dying!! #MedTwitter

Twitter. The ads are already taking over. We are guessing that the bill for use of Twitter's "free" speech will be presented in the not-too-distant future.

Normally don’t tweet family but so proud of my son Millan who spent his last year in High school doing this project. “Dad I learned so much. Maybe this doctor thing isn’t so bad.” Tears of joy. Thx @MeloneyOliveira @Rush_Nephrology.

Our heartfelt wish Dr. @AmitAryaMD is that your birthday week is filled with desired recognizations & that more join in the fervent request to "let's keep pushing." Thank you for all that you do & belated happy birthday!
Today's my birthday & all I want is for our governments to recognize that: -public healthcare is worth saving -liberation from ageism & ableism is possible -we can get through the pandemic if we're all in this together -people matter more than profits! Let's keep pushing ✊🏽

This tweet by the CDC director should be reported for misinformation because it deliberately leaves out masks and ventilation/filtration, two of the most effective measures against all *respiratory* viruses.
Respiratory viruses are on the rise across the United States. Take preventive actions to stop the spread of viruses like flu, RSV, and #COVID19: 🩹Get an updated COVID-19 vaccine & get your annual flu vaccine 🏠Stay home if you are sick 🧼Practice good hand hygiene

The good news is that respiratory viruses can't evolve to evade the laws of physics, and so masks and clean air along with vaccination and thoughtful social and public health policies can absolutely defeat them. The bad news is we're apparently the dumbest species on earth.

On this day as I turn 42, what would I say to my 6 year old self? You are loved. You are worthy. Be grateful and fierce. Stay humble and present. Be everything that you are because it will always be more than enough.

I’ve been home in Canada for a few days and I’ve spent time with several friends who work in healthcare. The entire Canadian healthcare system is collapsing and there are no clear short term solutions. I have never ever seen things this bad. It is beyond heartbreaking.

Can we please stop calling folks who have trouble accessing healthcare “hard to reach?" Remember that many people face real structural barriers to accessing healthcare (eg language, transportation, trauma). If anything, we in healthcare are the ones who are hard to reach!

To those who attacked me personally for complaining that my taxi driver wasn't wearing a mask while coughing and sniffling. I'm a frontline ER MD. We wear masks EVERY shift. If I get covid, a colleague will have to work my shift which adds to their stress. Think about that.
